Review: Warner Bros. Movie World

If you didn't think there was enough 'glitz and glamour' already on the Gold Coast, make sure to check out Warner Bros. Movie World, or “Hollywood on the Gold Coast” as it's also known. This is where you'll get to come face to face with Marilyn Monroe, Austin Powers and Batman, all in the one day! For the best value, you can combine Warner Bros. Movie World, Sea World and Wet 'n' Wild for a seven or fourteen day pass, or if you're not to keen on a swim, try the 2-day pass to Movie World and Sea World.

How to get there

If you are travelling by car

From Surfers Paradise, drive along the Gold Coast Highway to Smith Street and follow the signs to Brisbane and the Pacific Motorway. Take exit 60 to Warner Bros. Movie World.

From Brisbane, follow the signs to the Pacific Motorway and the Gold Coast. Take exit 60 to Warner Bros. Movie World. Free car parking is available at the front of the park.

Getting there by public transport

There are plenty of public transport options to get to Warner Bros. Movie World from both the Gold Coast and Brisbane, including bus and train which you can plan out using the translink plan your journey app. There are also airport transfers and tours available form both locations.

What you’ll do

Pickup a map

There is so much to see and do at Movie World! Be sure to grab a map on your way in, along with a timetable to let you know when all the shows are on so you can get the most out of your day.

Jump on a roller coaster!

If you like roller coasters, then Movie World is the theme park for you! With no less than six different coasters to keep your stomachs churning throughout the day. Without a doubt, the biggest and baddest of them all is the DC Rivals HyperCoaster. It is the longest, fastest and highest coaster in Australia, reaching speeds of up to 115km/h as it speeds along the 1.4km track. Want to add a little bit more spice to your ride on the DC Coaster? Pay an extra $10 and you can have the pleasure of riding backwards! Yeah, no thanks!

Not to be outdone in the adrenaline stakes is the Batwing Spaceshot, that launches you 60m in to the air at breakneck speed. But don’t think for a minute that the fun is over, as you then begin to free fall back to terra firma.

Meet some of your childhood favourites

With all these rides and non-stop action, you’re probably starting to think that Movie World is only for the big kids and adrenaline junkies….well, that’s definitely not the case! Movie World caters for not only the young at heart, but the young as well.

Get yourself down to Main Street, where there is always something going on. There’s Shaggy and Scooby Doo, Batman, Catwoman and the Joker and even Tweety and Sylvester drop by for a laugh. If you happen to miss any of the shows throughout the day, don’t miss the All Star Parade held at 3.30pm daily when all of your favourite characters do a couple of laps of Main Street.

Explore the kids zone & shows

The Kids WB! Fun Zone is where you want to be if the Looney Tunes Crew are what you came to see. Daffy Duck, Foghorn Leghorn and Bugs Bunny roam the area, high fiving the kids and posing for selfies. There’s even the Road Runner Roller Coaster and on a hot summer day, the Looney Tunes Splash Zone sure gets a workout!

If you’re a bit of a revhead like me and love the sound of screeching tyres and a big V8, then you won’t want to miss the Hollywood Stunt Driver Show. These guys really know how to handle their utes, and if you’re lucky enough, you may just star in Movie World’s next blockbuster feature film!

Grab a bite to eat

With so much going on, you’ll no doubt have to stop to refuel at some stage throughout the day. Never fear, there are options for everyone at Movie World. From the perennial favourite, the Dagwood Dog, all the way to a Chicken Quesadilla or an Outback BBQ, you definitely won’t go hungry. Grab a coffee and an ice-cream to keep you going until closing time.

Recommendations

Get there early, to make the most of your day. If you love the rides, it may be worth paying the little extra so you can jump the (sometimes long) queues with ‘Fast Track.’ I would also recommend grabbing a multi-park pass. Not only does this get you access to Movie World, but also Sea World, Wet’n’Wild and Paradise Country.
